Yvonne Arnaud Theatre

For theatre lovers, why travel all the way to the West End when you can go to Yvonne Arnaud Theatre, located just behind Debenham’s. The theatre, named after the actress Yvonne Arnaud, offers a series of local productions and national touring productions- including ballet, pantomime and opera.

Independent Coffee Shops

Glutton & Glee

Situated away from the busy high Street in Tunsgate Square, Glutton and Glee is a cozy cafe nicely adorned with retro and vintage decorations. They offer a great selection of homemade food, fresh salads and delicious cakes and pastries. There is also a great variety of gourmet style coffees and rare tea.

Coffee Culture

Located up the alleyway Angel Gate, this independent coffee house offers a great selection of local products, all Fairtrade certified. The café has a nice chilled atmosphere with a modern décor resembling an American dinner on the inside, and a traditional English tea room on the terrace area. The café offers a great menu for both breakfast and lunch.

Oh and let’s not forget to mention that there is free Wi-Fi!

The Tea Terrace

The revival of English tea rooms- located on the 5th floor of House of Fraser, this lovely decorated tea room with upholstered chairs and fine china, offers amazing views of Surrey’s countryside. A charming place to go to for breakfast, lunch and evening tea, as it offers a delicious selection of gourmet styled food and tasty cakes and pastries. Perfect for a nice sunny day to be chilling on their rooftop terrace.

Kokomo Cocktail Bar

Bar de Arts has been transformed and refurnished into Kokomo Cocktail Bar! A unique place which offers amazing live entertainment and an eclectic mix of cocktails, located just opposite the Yvonne Arnaud Theatre.

So if you are looking for an alternative place to hang out with your pals, Kokomo is the place to go. There is live music almost every evening AND the venue also offers cocktail classes, so you can master the art of making a great cocktail.

Cliché Shisha Lounge

This cozy shisha lounge brings the Middle-Eastern taste to Guildford with over 60 different shisha pipes and flavours. Located just a few minutes from the train station, the lounge has a great heated deck outdoors area filled with cozy cushions. Apart from the great shisha pipes, there is also a good selection of snacks and drinks, including awesome coffees and milkshakes. The venue also broadcasts sporting events such as football matches and tennis. It is definitely a good place to go to if you are looking for a nice chilled evening with all your friends.

The Boileroom

If you are a music lover check out Guildford’s only alternative venue for live music and creative events. Recognized as one of the most exciting venues of the South East, The Boileroom has a great sociable environment with a friendly staff. Past performances include the likes of Ed Sheeran, Kate Nash, Catfish & The Bottlemen, Foals, Michael Cera, amongst many others. As well as hosting gigs of all music genres, it also offers a variety of creative and cultural events for all ages, such as arts and crafts, film screenings, comedy, open mic nights and more. The venue also offers a stage to young talent from the local area.
